Many of us enjoy taking photos and often we have a camera or phone with built in camera on hand when on holiday. Taking snaps can be a great way to capture those special moments to look back on or share with others, but for some people photography is more than just a hobby.

Getting paid to take pictures when away may sound like the dream job but is not always as glamorous as you may first think. Being handy with a camera and happy to travel is simply not enough to become a great travel photographer, you will also need to have a lot of patience. It may be that you have to do a lot of waiting around to capture that perfect shot and even when you do the likelihood is that you will not make it as a photographer overnight, it will take time and experience. To get work you need to be able to have a solid portfolio to show potential clients and this may have to be created at your own cost initially.
