Children’s Photography

It is said that you should never work with children or animals, however as a professional photographer you are very likely to do both, maybe even in the same picture!

So how do you go about children’s photography? Well you’ll need time and patience and a few of our top tips below:-

Don’t be afraid to be silly – fake smiles particularly on children don’t look good so don’t be afraid to be silly and get some good genuine giggles going.

Be ever ready – children rarely do great poses when your all set up and waiting for a shot, it just happens so be ready! Ensure that you have the camera ready and predict what may happen, better to have a few unusable shots and then one great one!

Try not to plan too much of a shoot – get plenty of props and turn the shoot into a game, the more relaxed that the children are the more likely they are to just play and have fun giving you some great shots that their parents will love.
